NEW DELHI: Delhi pacer Morne Morkel gave first blow to Chennai Super Kings by scalping Murali Vijay (18) after a 30-run opening wicket stand.

Scorecard

Vijay slammed three boundaries during his 13-ball knock before getting trapped leg before in the sixth over.

Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat against Delhi Daredevils in the IPL clash at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Thursday.

Both Delhi and Chennai have made two changes each. Ajit Agarkar replaces Ashish Nehra, while Jeevan Mendis comes in place of Ben Rohrer in Delhi's playing XI.

Chennai have brought in Michael Hussey in place of Dirk Nannes, who is ruled out because of injury. Anirudha Srikkanth is also out. He is replaced by Mohit Sharma.

After five consecutive losses, Delhi will try to get off the mark at their home ground against the two time champions.

It's hard to believe the Devils — who will be looking to stave off a sixth successive defeat — were a model of efficiency just last season, becoming the first to reach the playoffs.

Delhi Daredevils: Virender Sehwag, David Warner, Mahela Jayawardene, Manprit Juneja, Kedar Jadhav, Jeevan Mendis, Irfan Pathan, Ajit Agarkar, Morne Morkel, S Nadeem, Umesh Yadav

Chennai Super Kings: Murali Vijay, Mike Hussey, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni*, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, Chris Morris, R Ashwin, Mohit Sharma
