IPL 6: Delhi stumble after opting to bat

NEW DELHI: Pacers give Sunrisers Hyderabad edge as Delhi Daredevils were five down even before crossing 70 in fourteen overs after electing to bat in the IPL clash at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Friday.

Manprit Juneja was the fifth man to be dismissed. Leg spinner Amit Mishra got Juneja (15) caught by Cameron White at point after a 21-run stand with Irfan Pathan.

Earlier, Dale Steyn struck in the first over to send back David Warner without a run on board. Warner (0) tried to drive Steyn but got caught at the mid-on by Anand Rajan.

After few quick hits skipper Mahela Jayawardene and Virender Sehwag went back in hut, falling to Ishant Sharma. Both batsmen scored 12 each.

Ishant first got rid of Jayawardene by getting him caught by Dale Steyn on the third delivery of the fifth over. On the next delivery, Ishant scalped Sehwag to leave Delhi reeling at 26/3.

Anand Rajan gave Delhi fourth blow at the score of 44 on the final ball of the ninth over. Rajan got Johan Botha (9) caught by Reddy.

Virender Sehwag will make his first appearance in this season.

Having lost their first three matches in this year's league, and looking ragged and somewhat pedestrian, the team which dominated the league phases just a year back needs to win on Friday.

Their opponents are not the strongest side in the tournament but do boast of a fine opening attack, led by Dale Steyn who is partnered by Ishant Sharma.

The batting is being held together by the pair of Cameron White and Thisara Perera, both of whom can clear the boundaries with ease.
