Scorecard
Uthappa (22) and Finch (16) looked in no mood to show pity towards the Hyderabad bowlers as they put up a quick-fire 38-run partnership for the opening wicket.
However, the party was short-lived when Thisara Perera struck twice in two balls to dismiss the Pune duo in quick succession.
Suman (12) was next in line to be dismissed when he was caught plumb by Karan Sharma after the Pune batsman put up 19-runs for the third wicket with Steven Smith.
Smith (17) himself could not stay for long at the crease as a mistimed pull shot off the bowling of Ishant Sharma saw the Aussie being caught by Ashish Reddy on the boundary rope.
Mitchell Marsh and skipper Angelo Mathews then put up 25 runs for the 5th wicket before Dale Steyn proved crucial in dismissing Marsh (14) when he top edged a fast delivery.
Earlier, a blazing bowling display by Pune Warriors India helped them restrict Sunrisers Hyderabad to 119/8.
Ashok Dinda and Bhuvneshwar Kumar rattled the Hyderabad top-order with an impressive display of a fiery pace attack.
Dinda gave the hosts the first breakthrough by dismissing opener Quinton de Kock (2) when the southpaw was caught in the covers by Mitchell Marsh.
The Bhuvneshwar Kumar show then began when he bowled an impeccable spell to dismiss Parthiv Patel, Cameron White and Hanuma Vihari in quick succession.
While Patel (12) and White (0) were comprehensively bowled, Vihari (1) got a wicked outside edge and was caught comfortably in the slips by Aaron Finch.
Spinner Rahul Sharma then joined the wicket taking party by catching a confused Karan Sharma (7) plumb and thereby ending a 24-run partnership that Karan had with Biplab Samantray for the 5th wicket.
Soon after, Marsh added further misery on the Sunrisers when Thisara Perera (2), in his attempt to play a cover drive, ended edging an outside-off delivery that was taken brilliantly by wicketkeeper Uthappa.
Rahul Sharma then added another wicket to his tally when he scalped Samantray, which proved elementary in breaking a 31-run partnership that the Hyderabad batsman had with Amit Mishra for the 7th wicket.
Samantray scored a run-a-ball 37 with the help of 3 boundaries and a single six.
Earlier, Pune Warriors India skipper Angelo Mathews won the toss and decided to bowl against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Ross Taylor, who captained the Warriors in the last match, is not playing this one and Mathews is back as skipper. On the other hand, Hyderabad skipper Kumar Sangakkara is out and the Sunrisers are being led by White.
