LONDON: Australia were 136 for six in their second innings, needing a further 447 runs to reach their victory target of 583, at tea on the fourth day of the second Ashes Test at Lord's on Sunday.

Scorecard

Brad Haddin was nought not out after Joe Root, who earlier made 180, struck twice with his part-time off-spin to spark a collapse that saw Australia lose three wickets for two runs in 23 deliveries.

Skipper Michael Clarke (51), Usman Khawaja (54) and Steven Smith, caught behind off Tim Bresnan, all exited in quick succession.

No side has made more in the fourth innings to win a Test than West Indies' 418 for seven against Australia at St John's in 2002/03.

Ashes-holders England lead this five-match series 1-0.
