NEW DELHI: Glenn Maxwell hit four sixes in his 13-ball 27 before Ravindra Jadeja ended the swashbuckling knock in one-off Twenty20 match at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

Scorecard

Maxwell went for another six on the flight delivery but he mistimed and Ishant Sharma took a blinder at long on.

Australia lost the fifth wickets in form of Brad Haddin when he was caught behind the wickets by MS Dhoni off Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Aaron Finch raced to his half-century in 29 balls, smacking eight fours and a six. Glenn Maxwell joined the party as he hammered three towering sixes to take Australia past 100 runs in the 10th over bowled by R Ashwin.

Vinay Kumar led Indian fightback as he struck twice in one over to remove Shane Watson and George Bailey and leave Australia to 84/3 in 7.5 overs.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck to get rid of debutant Nic Maddinson and gave India a huge breakthrough. Maddinson smashed six fours and a six in his 16-ball 34.

Australia got off to a rollicking start with Aaron Finch and Nic Maddinson added 56 for the first wicket in just 4.5 overs.

The duo started hammering Indian bowlers from the first over and went on to pile misery on the hosts.

Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's decision to bowl backfired badly as Australia posted mammoth 74 for the loss wicket in the mandatory powerplay.

Australia have handed debut to young all-rounder Nic Maddinson.

Comeback man Yuvraj Singh will be the cynosure of all eyes as India aiming to gain early momentum ahead of the upcoming seven-match ODI series.

The match promises to be an exciting face-off at SCA Stadium, with Australia keen to test their young players before the return Ashes showdown with England.

The two teams have faced off in seven previous T20 games, with Australia holding a slightly better record at 4-3.

India last played a T20 match against Pakistan at Ahmedabad in December.
