NEW DELHI: Skipper AB de Villiers (109) and in-form opener Quinton de Kock (101) slammed a century each to help South Africa recover from early blows to post 301/8 against India in the final one-day international of the three-match series at SuperSport Park, Centurion on Wednesday.

Scorecard

The duo was well supported by David Miller, who smacked some lusty blows late in the innings. Miller remained unbeaten on 56 off 34 balls, which included three sixes and five boundaries.

De Villiers and De Kock added 171 runs for the fourth wicket to lead the hosts' fightback after they were reduced to 28/3 in 7.4 overs.

De Kock in the process became the fifth batsman to score three successive centuries in ODIs. He joined the exclusive club, comprising the likes of Pakistan's Zaheer Abbas and Saeed Anwar and compatriots Herschelle Gibbs and AB de Villiers.

De Kock's 101 came off 120 balls, which included two maximums and nine boundaries, whereas De Villiers's scored his 109 off 101 balls, smacking five sixes and six fours.

De Kock became the third victim of Ishant Sharma, when the latter clean bowled the southpaw in the 38th over to end the partnership.

South Africa lost De Villiers in the 44th over when he was trapped leg before by Umesh Yadav.

Ishant Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for India as he finished with 4-40 in 10 overs. Fellow pacers Mohammed Shami (3-69) and Umesh Yadav (1-57) chipped in with four South African wickets.

South Africa were in a spot of bother when they were reduced to 28/3 in 7.4 overs after losing wickets at regular intervals.

Ishant Sharma produced a brilliant over (8th) as he struck twice in it without conceding a run to rock the South African innings.

Ishant dismissed JP Duminy (0) and Henry Davids (1) in three balls to reduce the hosts to 28/3 in 7.4 overs. Both batsmen gave simple catches to Suresh Raina in the slip.

South Africa started their innings on a wrong foot as they lost opener Hashim Amla (13) early in the fifth over.

Pacer Mohammed Shami gave India a crucial breakthrough, when he struck in his very first over to dismiss Amla and reduced the hosts to 22/1 in 4.3 overs.

Earlier, South Africa skipper AB de Villiers won the toss and decided to bat.

South Africa have made three changes for the game as Henry Davids, Wayne Parnell and Imran Tahir are included in place of Jacques Kallis, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.

For India, Yuvraj Singh replaced Ajinkya Rahane in the playing eleven.
