Mishra's double-strike rattles Windies

NEW DELHI: Spinner Amit Mishra picked up two wickets in two balls as West Indies lost their top order cheaply in their ICC World T20 match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Mishra dismissed Marlon Samuels (18) by getting the batsman stumped brilliantly by MS Dhoni before catching Dwayne Bravo (0) plumb to leave West Indies in tatters.

After getting off to a slow start, West Indies first lost the wicket of opener Dwayne Smith (11) when R Ashwin successfully caught him off his own bowling.

West Indies's miseries were further deepened as the flamboyant Chris Gayle (34) too returned back to the pavilion when he fell short of his crease in his attempt to steal a cheeky single.

Smith along with Gayle put up a crawling 38-run partnership in which Gayle survived twice as he was dropped on 0 and 9.

Earlier, Indian captain MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl against West Indies.

Their sagging morale lifted after a thumping win over Pakistan, Indian spinners will now have to brace up for the ever-dangerous Chris Gayle.

A victory against Pakistan was just the kind of shot in the arm that was required before facing a team that has world's most devastating T20 batsman in Gayle.

Dwayne Bravo and Marlon Samuels are also capable enough to destroy any bowling attack on their day.

While Samuels might take some time to settle down, he can effortlessly shift gears as he had shown some 18 months ago during the last edition's final at the Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The Indian batsmen had an easy day in office against Pakistan with a smaller target to chase. But both Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma would also do well to get a big score under their belt.
