NEW DELHI: Krishmar Santokie trapped Ahmed Shehzad in front of wickets on the first delivery of the Pakistan innings after Sammy and Bravo helped West Indies set 167.

Scorecard

Earlier, late charge by Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo after early hiccups powered West Indies to a challenging 166/6.

Despite reducing the defending champions to 81/5 at one point of time, Pakistan lost the plot as Sammy and Bravo destroyed their attack and shared a solid 71-run stand for the sixth wicket to take their side to a big total.

Bravo scored 46 off 26 balls, hitting four sixes and two boundaries during his stay while Sammy remained unbeaten on 42.

West Indies scored 82 runs in the last five overs.
Pakistan took an early edge as West Indies lost both openers cheaply after opting to bat in the clash for semifinal berth.

Mohammad Hafeez sent back Chris Gayle (5) while Sohail Tanvir dismissed Dwayne Smith (8) to reduce West Indies to 22/2.

Gayle stretched forward to play Hafeez but missed the chance and wicket keeper Kamran Akmal made no mistake in removing the bails at the score of 10 in the third over.

Smith then edged Tanvir to give Akmal a simple catch behind the stumps in the fourth over.

Lendl Simmons and Marlon Samules then steadied the Windies innings. However, after a steady third-wicket stand, West Indies lost Lendl Simmons and Marlon Samuels in quick succession.

Simmons scored 31 off 29 balls and rescued West Indies from early blows taking the score past 60 in ten overs.

However he failed to convert to go far and got run out on the first delivery of the 11th over.

Before the defending champions could recover from the shock, Shahid Afridi bowled out Samuels (20) in the same over to reduce them to 67/4.

In the 14th over Zulfiqar Babar dealt fifth blow to West Indies by getting Denesh Ramdin caught by Umar Akmal.

Sammy and Bravo, however, turned the tide in West Indies favour with their aggressive show.
Both teams are on four points each and it will be a virtual quarterfinal clash to decide on the second semifinalist from Group 2 after India emerged group champions with an all-win record.

The match is being billed as a battle between the mystery spinners with West Indies banking heavily on Sunil Narine while Pakistan's hopes will be pinned on Saeed Ajmal.
