Bouchard wins first set against Maria

NEW DELHI: ​Maria Sharapova toiled hard to make a comeback and win the second set 7-5 to level the match against Eugenie Bouchard in the French Open semifinal.

Bouchard began her quest to become the first Canadian woman to reach a Grand Slam final in style as she won the first set against Sharapova.

Bouchard put Sharapova under pressure early by breaking her serve in the third game of the first set to take 2-1 lead.

Sharapova made a comeback to level the first set 4-4 after Bouchard failed to capitalise her lead.

The 20-year-old Canadian kept her cool to break Maria second time and went on to win the first set 6-4.
