The pair met in Sunderland, north-east England, where the Prince of Wales was visiting a National Citizen Service project backed by Khan where youngsters help older people learn to use social media.
"He is a very nice guy," Olympic silver medallist Khan said afterwards of Charles. "I have met him two or three times before and he seems like a boxing fan.
"We had a bit of a chat about boxing and we had a chat about his polo and how many injuries we'd had.
"He'd had more injuries in that than I have in boxing," the former world light welterweight champion added.
"It shows you can get injured in all sports."
Charles, 66, broke his right arm after falling off his polo horse in 1990 and needed a lengthy period of treatment.
He was also left unconscious following another fall during a charity match in 2001 but did not suffer a major injury on that occasion.
By contrast, Khan, 28, from Bolton, north-west England, has won 30 of his 33 professional fights and so far avoided serious injury in a lucrative career.
