Parupalli Kashyap rises to World No. 12

NEW DELHI: Boosted by the title win at the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships on Sunday, Parupalli Kashyap rose three places to be ranked No.12 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on Thursday.

Two other Indians are in the top-25 of men's singles with Kidambi Srikanth at No. 5 and HS Prannoy at No. 18. Both retained their positions.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal who won the women's singles title at the same tournament by beating World Champion Carolina Marin on Sunday, stayed at No. 3 but recent winner of Padma Shri PV Sindhu dropped a place to be ranked No. 10.

Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa are India's only representation in the women's doubles top-25 at No. 22 while there are no Indians in the top-25 of the men's and mixed doubles.
