IPL 6: Pune Warriors off to a good start

NEW DELHI: Aaron Finch reached his fifty after the dismissal of Robin Uthappa to set the tone for a big total for Pune Warriors in the IPL clash against Punjab.

Finch's 50 came off 33 balls and included six boundaries and two sixes. The skipper's half-ton guided Pune past 100 in the 13th over.

Parvinder Awana gave Punjab first breakthrough by dismissing Pune opener Robin Uthappa (37) after a solid 83-run opening stand.

Uthappa was caught behind by Adam Gilchrist in the 11th over. Uthappa's 33-ball knock was studded with four boundaries.

Both Uthappa and Finch gave Pune Warriors a flying start as they took the side to 77 in first ten overs after being invited to bat by Kings XI Punjab.

Punjab bowlers appeared clueless to Pune openers. The duo helped Pune cross 50-mark in just six overs.

Pune have made two changes to their side, bringing in Luke Wright and Ajantha Mendis in place of Angelo Mathews and Mitchell Marsh while Yuvraj Singh and Mithun Manhas have also been named in the playing XI. Aaron Finch will be captaining the side.

Kings XI have left out Dimitri Mascarenhas and Paul Valthaty for David Miller and Parvinder Awana.
